KCCA co-head coach Jackson Magera has challenged his players to rediscover their winning touch as the Cityzens prepare to face Maroon FC in Thursday’s Uganda Premier League clash at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
KCCA head into the Matchday 27 encounter looking to bounce back after a run of inconsistent results that has slightly dented their title ambitions.
Despite earning a respectable 1-1 draw against Vipers SC in their previous outing, Magera believes his side must now turn good performances into victories.
“We need to get back to winning ways, but most importantly, play beautiful football,” Magera said ahead of the fixture.
The Cityzens currently sit third on the league table with 52 points and could move into second place with victory over Maroons.
Magera acknowledged the challenge posed by a disciplined Maroons side, warning that chances could be limited and stressing the need for greater efficiency in front of goal.
“We need to tuck away our chances, and we know there will not be many against a resilient Maroons side,” he added.
KCCA failed to break down Maroons in the reverse fixture earlier this season, with the two teams settling for a goalless draw at Luzira.
The Lugogo side has also struggled for consistency in recent weeks, winning only two of their last five matches across all competitions.
However, Magera revealed that the technical team has spent time working on improving the team’s finishing ahead of Thursday’s encounter.
“We have worked on our finishing, and hopefully, we can replicate that on the pitch tomorrow.”
KCCA will also be encouraged by the return of some key players, with left-back James Mubezi back in training after recovering from a fractured hand, while Kennedy Muserero has returned following illness.
Maroons arrive at Lugogo in strong form, having lost just once in their last nine league matches, setting up what promises to be a competitive contest under the lights.
