Entebbe UPPC continued their impressive debut Uganda Premier League campaign with a commanding 2-0 victory over UPDF at the Fisheries Training Institute playground in Bugonga on Thursday afternoon.

The hosts made a dream start to the contest, breaking the deadlock just three minutes into the game through Issa Bugembe. The forward powered home past goalkeeper Richard Anyama to hand the “Printers” an early advantage and settle the home crowd.

Entebbe UPPC maintained control for large spells of the encounter, with captain Julius Poloto and Ambrose Kigozi leading the charge in attack as UPDF struggled to find rhythm going forward.

After surviving pressure from the visitors in the second half, Abdallah Mubiru’s side sealed the result late on when substitute Muhammed Kyeyune curled in a low free-kick in the 88th minute to put the game beyond reach.

The victory marked Entebbe UPPC’s 13th win of the season and lifted them to sixth place on 46 points in what has been a remarkable maiden season in the top flight.

For UPDF, the defeat deepened their relegation worries as they remained on 21 points after suffering a 16th loss of the campaign.

Tempers flared after the final whistle, with reports indicating angry UPDF officials confronted match officials over what they alleged was biased officiation.
