The 2024 Airtel Buganda Masaza Cup is set for a thrilling conclusion as Kyaggwe faces off against Buddu in the grand final on Saturday, November 2, at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
The action-packed day will also feature a third-place play-off between Kyaddondo and Buweekula, which kicks off earlier in the day before the main event.
Last year’s championship title was claimed by Bulemeezi, who will be watching from the sidelines this time.
Road to the Final
Kyaggwe:
Kyaggwe advanced from the Muganzirwaza group as one of the best third-placed teams. They faced Ssingo, a familiar opponent who had previously beaten them twice in the group stages. This time, Kyaggwe emerged victorious with a 2-1 aggregate win to advance to the semifinals.
In the semis, they went up against Buweekula, another team from their group. After a 2-1 win in the first leg, Kyaggwe held firm in the second leg, securing their first-ever place in the final.
Buddu:
Buddu, two-time Masaza Cup champions, earned their seventh final appearance after defeating Kyaddondo 4-2 on aggregate in the semifinals.
Earlier, they had topped the Bulange group, finishing ahead of Butambala, Kyaddondo, and Bugerere, and went on to defeat Kabula 3-1 on aggregate in the quarterfinals.
Buddu’s history in the tournament is illustrious, with past final appearances in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Namboole will be hosting its sixth Masaza Cup final, having previously held the event from 2015 through 2019.
