You’d struggle to find a bigger highlight on Match Day two (2) of this season than NEC Football Club making the trip to Hoima side Kitara FC on Thursday in what will be a replica of the last Uganda Cup final won by Kitara.

The two busted onto the scene last season and took many by surprise with their performances, but the fixture will gain even more pomp being the first league game at Kitaras’s refurbished Royals Park-Butema.

According to NEC FC goalkeeper Samson Kirya, this is not just another league encounter;

“Kitara beat us at the Uganda Cup final in a way we weren’t convinced so they have a debt to pay.”

“We are yet to win at Kitaras’s home ground just like we had never defeated Vipers and now with our heads high. We expect a win from Kitara just like we defeated vipers.”

Both NEC and Kitara come off convincing 3-1 and 0-3 wins to Vipers and Lugazi respectively.

But speaking ahead of this game the NEC FC head coach Hussein Mbalagu was quick to admit that Kitara has an upper hand, sighting that his team had only managed one win out of five games against Kitara.

NEC FC forward Paul Mucuurezi who was a Royal last season promised to put up his A game against Kitara just like he did against Vipers adding that playing former clubs is always a big motivation.
