KCCA FC hosts Mbarara City FC on Friday evening with Mike Mutebi’s side looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and preserve their lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The Kasasiro Boys sit top of the standings having collected a maximum of six points from the two games played this season so far and will hope to maintain their 100% record when they host the Ankole Lions at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
If the Kasasiro Boys are to extend their run, they will need to do it without the services of Gift Ali who sustained an injury in their 8-0 win over Onduparaka.
“All the players who were involved against Onduparaka are available for Friday’s game apart from Gift Ali,” Mutebi said in the club’s press conference.
“He will be out alongside Bright Anukani, Musa Ramathan, Steven Sserwadda, and Andrew Kawooya who are still quarantining,” he added.
On the other hand, Mbarara City has had a harsh start to the season, having drawn 1-all with URA FC in Mbarara before a humiliating 3-0 loss to SC Villa in Bombo.
Brian Aheebwa who has had a sublime start to his KCCA career (netting 5 goals in his two opening games ), will face his former paymasters for the first time since he made a switch from Mbarara to Kampala in September.
Meanwhile, the Ankole Lions will be without head coach Brian Ssenyondo who is away with the Uganda U17 team in Rwanda so his assistant, Mohammed Kiseeka will be on the touchline for the visitors once again.
KCCA FC and Mbarara City will be meeting for the seventh time in the league with both sides winning once whereas the remaining games have ended into draws.
In their last meeting at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, KCCA FC narrowly defeated the Ankole Lions 1-0 courtesy of Filbert Obenchan’s strike.
