Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) have today equaled Proline FC’s record of finding the net 8 times in recent times in a single Uganda Premier League game after following their 8-0 thrashing of Onduparaka FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
Brian Aheebwa fired home four goals while Sam Ssenyonjo had a hat-trick to inspire the Kasasiro Boys to a far much convincing performance over the Caterpillars on Tuesday evening.
In the 17th minute after a superb combination with Ssenyonjo, Aheebwa broke the deadlock with a clinical bullet shot to give KCCA FC the lead.
A few minutes later, Onduparaka goalie Austin Opoka was beaten with less effort for a second time with a high ball that Herbert Achai sent from left straight into the net.
In the 27th minute, the visitors, Onduparaka had a penalty appeal waved away by the referee Mashood Ssali after Livin Kabon was rattled down by Denis Iguma in the forbidden area.
However, the resulting quick counter-attack in the 28th minute gifted the home side their third goal courtesy of a combined effort between Brian Aheebwa and Sam Ssenyonjo with the latter scoring his first on the night.
Ssenyonjo had his second of the day after Opoka spilled the Aheebwa’s bullet shot back into play, and the teenager easily tapped it home for KCCA’s fourth goal.
At the stroke of halftime, Mahdi Ajobe fouled Samson Kigozi in the penalty area, and KCCA were granted an opportunity to take the score to 5-0 with Aheebwa placing the ball to the left side of the net.
The game went into the halftime break with the hosts, KCCA FC holding a comfortable 5-0 lead over the Caterpillars.
Nine minutes into the second half, Ssenyonjo completed his first hat-trick for the club as he slotted the ball in between Opoka’s legs for KCCA FC’s 6th with all the Onduparaka defenders left ball watching.
Aheebwa also scored his third and KCCA FC’s seventh after he drove the ball past almost 4 players to claim his first hat-trick for the Kasasiro Boys in the 65th minute.
The former Mbarara City forward was again on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute when he pounced onto a loose ball from Opoka to slot home his fourth of the game.
KCCA FC becomes the first team in 9 years to find the back of the net 8 times in a single game, equaling Proline’s 8-1 thumping of Hoima Busia in the 2011/12 season.
With today’s convincing victory, the Kasasiro Boys move back to the top of the standings having garnered 6 points in their opening two games.
