Thirteen-time Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC have finally confirmed the signing of two new players who were added to their squad in Ashraf Mugume and Charles Lwanga who were signed from Vipers SC and SC Villa respectively.

The signing of Mugume and Lwanga was confirmed by the Club via their weekly TV show on Sanyuka TV hosted by the Club publicist, Moses Magero Mwanje, at 10 PM on Sunday, June 14th, 2020.

It was confirmed that Ashraf Mugume put pen to paper to a four-year contract that will see him play at the club until 2024, while Lwanga signed for three years.

Mugume spent the 2018/19 StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Police FC on loan from Vipers, where he scored three times and made six assists for Abdallah Mubiru’s side before being recalled by his parent club for the 2019/20 season.

While at Vipers SC, he found playing time hard to come by, being restricted to only four games in which he started just one, the 5-0 drubbing of Maroons FC. The rest, he appeared as a substitute against Onduparaka, Kyetume, and URA FC before being considered surplus to requirements in January.

The 22-year-old has been training with KCCA FC since being released by his parent and he joins the list of players to have featured for the Kitende rivals before crossing over to the Lugogo based side. The others include; Keziron Kizito, Erisa Ssekisambu among others.

Mugume says he has always admired the way the Kasasiro boys play.

I joined KCCA FC because of the way they play. They are organized. The fans should expect goals from me.

Meanwhile, Charles Lwanga joins KCCA FC after being released by former club SC Villa on accounts of contractual breaches by the Jogoos.

Lwanga joined Villa under former coach Douglas Bamweyana on a five-year contract in the 2018/19 but his stay at the club was cut short after the club failed to pay his salary for over five months.

During an interview with the club TV, Lwanga could not hide his excitement after joining the club of his dreams.

I am happy to join KCCA FC because it has always been my dream club. Ever since I started playing football, it has always been my dream to play for this club.

“I came here to win because KCCA FC is a winning team,” he added.

Mugume and Lwanga become the first official signings made by Mike Mutebi ahead of the 20120/21 season that is expected to kick-off later in October.
