Kayondo Henry was Synergy’s last gasp hero as his header handed them a stunning win over archrivals Kampala Masaka University in match day six of the Buganda Regional League.
Henry kept his cool to head home a glancing header off a well calculated cross from Frank Yiga inside the goal area in the 83rd minute which found Kampala Masaka University’s custodian Mbambali off the goal line to give Synergy the lead.
The visitors pushed for a late equaliser through Ibrahim Kasinde but his shot went wide after running the length of the pitch in the 85th minute, while Kiyinji blazed his shot above the cross bar off a well-worked corner routine in 90th minute. The league’s lowest goal scorers were left to rue their lack of precision in front of goal.
This win moves Synergy FC into the 5th place with 10-points amassed in five games while Kampala Masaka University FC remains 9th with 4-points from five games.
In Buikwe, Buikwe Red Stars FC were condemned to their fourth defeat of the season from six league games by Simba FC.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 60th minute to make it 0-1 but the hosts could not find an equaliser at full-time.
Buikwe Red Stars drops to the relegation zone in the 9th place with six points collected in six games while Simba FC climbs to the 7th place with 7points collected in six games.
Buganda Regional League will resume this Friday with one game as Masaka City FC takes on Kakiri Town Council FC at Masaka Recreation grounds
