The Federation of Uganda Football Association( FUFA) has cancelled the 2020/21 season of the FUFA Regional Leagues.
This is due to the upsurge of Covid-19 in the country that forced the league to first be postponed early this month before kickoff before the decision was reached on to cancel the leagues.
“Due to supervisory and logistical hiccups caused by the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, FUFA has decided to cancel the FUFA Regional Leagues for 2020/2021 season” read a statement from FUFA
“Efforts will be diverted to an early and timely kickoff of the 2021/2022 Regional League season.”
” We urge everyone to continue and intensity efforts in the fight to stop the spread of COVID -19 in the Country. Together we can control the spread of the virus.”
It should noted that the player’s licenses were only valid till 30th June 2021 so it was also deemed impossible to finish all the league action before that date.
It’s left to be seen whether there will be relegation from the FUFA Big league, a second-tier league that is currently on-going and close to climax.
