Girls Schools Cricket Week 2024: Soroti schools showcase dominance on day one of the matches

On the inaugural day of the Girls Schools Cricket Week in Soroti, local teams showcased their prowess with all three Soroti schools clinching victories in their opening matches.

Light SS emerged as the standout performers of the day, securing victories in both of their encounters.

Meanwhile, Olila High and St. Mary’s Girls School Madera each claimed a win in their respective fixtures.

In a thrilling morning clash at the TCA ground, Light SS triumphed over Mukono Kings by 82 runs, with Christine Aguti’s stellar performance earning her the Player of the Match accolade for her all-round display.

Similarly, Olila High School overcame Jinja SS by 5 wickets at TCA 2 ground, with Ariokot Malisa’s remarkable bowling spell of 4/8 in 3 overs earning her the Player of the Match honor.

At the City ground, St. Mary’s Madera defended their total of 60/7 by restricting Sacred Hearts to just 27 runs, securing victory by 33 runs.

Achan Zita’s outstanding contribution earned her the Player of the Match title.

In the afternoon fixtures, Light SS continued their dominance, defeating Ndejje SS by 42 runs to maintain their position at the top of Group B.

Meanwhile, Nalumansi Resty’s captain’s innings guided Mukono Kings to a comprehensive 9-wicket victory over Kasese SS in Group B.

At the end of day one, St. John’s SS leads the table in Group A, while Light SS tops Group B.
