FUFA suspends six players, two officials over match-fixing

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has handed provisional suspension to six players and two match officials over match-fixing allegations and football results manipulation.

Opio Deogracious ( Referee), George Nkurunziza ( Referee), Andrew Waiswa ( Player- Gaddafi FC) Mahad Yaya Kakooza ( Players – Gaddafi FC), Godfrey Lwesibawa ( Player- Kitara FC), Saleh Maganda ( Player- Calvary FC), Franco Oringa ( Player – Northern Gateway FC) and Abudallah Mwima ( Player – Ndejje University) are the individuals suspended by FUFA.

This was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon after a decision taken by the investigation chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.

All the eight individual have been suspended from all football Activities for 90 days.

“The decision was taken by the Investigation Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee in compliance with Article 73 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code.” Read the statement released by FUFA in parts

“The individuals mentioned have been provisionally suspended from taking part in any football activity (administrative, sport or any other) at national level for a period of 90 days.”

“The provisional suspension comes into force immediately and has been notified to each individual.

“The Chamber took decisions following confessions by individuals and available data from the Match Integrity reports.
