FUFA: federation postpones kickoff for both the Big League and Regional Leagues

The Federation of Uganda Football Association, FUFA has postponed the kick-off dates for both the FUFA Big League and Regional Leagues.

The development was confirmed by the FUFA Competition Director Hajat Aisha Nalule on Sunday morning, stating that the football governing body is still making consultations with the different stakeholders on how to manage the COVID-19 SOPs.

She says the competitions have been postponed until the process in finalised.

“The Big League and Regional kick-off is postponed until the process of consultation on the management of COVID 19 SOPs in said Leagues is finalized.”

The Big League was scheduled to kickoff in October last year but has since been postponed to the start on February 4th and the latest development indicates it has now been indefinitely postponed until an agreement on management of COVID-19 SOPs is reached.

Maroons, Tooro United and Proline were set to play in Big League after they were relegated from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League that was ended prematurely last year.

Meanwhile, the eight FUFA Regional Leagues (Buganda Region Football Association League, Kampala Region Football Association League, Western Region Football Association League, West Nile Region Football Association League, Eastern Region Football Association League, Northern Region Football Association League, North East Region Football Association League andKitara Region Football Association League) were all set to return in February.
