Kitara FC maintain the FUFA Big league top spot after winning their game 1-0 against National Enterprises Coperation (NEC) football on Thursday evening at the Coffee grounds in Bugolobbi.
The western giants’ only goal of the game came four minutes to the 90 through a penalty that was converted by Dudu Ramathan after Brian Mato pushed Lazaro Bwambale in the area.
In a game that started with second NEC on log, Kitara came geared up for a win kicking off the game in high spirits and on the front foot with Moses Sseruyidde “Kinye” creating a number of chances notably with in the 9th where he delivered a cross to Ssenkaaba only to head wide.
Four minutes later, defender Jasper Aheebwa delivered a ball from the center line to land onto Lwesibawa in the box to sky his effort wide of the posts. NEC also had an an open chance seven minutes later as right back Brian Mato brought in a good ball from the corner but Dudu cleared the effort at the near post.
At the half hour mark, NEC was awarded a free kick 25 yards away from Kitara’s goal after Lwesibawa bringing down Kavuma and Ssesazi brought in a good ball from the right but goal keeper Micheal Kagiri was alert pushing the ball away for a corner.
Despite the several chances created by both sides, the opening half ended goalless with more to be sighted in the second half.
The second half returned with more action, most of the pressure exerted on Kitara but the final balls were not up to the required quality. Sseruyidde too had lots of deliveries into the area but nobody got to the end of them.
With six minutes left on the clock, a good long ball by Maxwell was brushed on by Lwesibawa to land into the path of Lazara Bwambale who was pushed by Mato for the referee to point to the spot.
Two minutes later, the spot was taken by Dudu Ramathan who scored his third in Kitara’s white to win it for the Western giants.
This win keeps Kitara top of the log with 40 points in 20 games as NEC drop to fourth below Mbarara City who has drawn goalless away at Kataka and Police who have drawn one-all at home with Kyetume.
