From Soroti Cricket Academy to the National teams

Since its inception in 2014, the academy embarked on an intensive training program across several schools in Soroti.

The culmination of this initiative coincided with the emergence of a remarkable cohort of talents between 2018 and 2015.

Notable among these rising stars were Auro Kevin, Akello Felistar, Achawo Sandra, Mildred Anyigo, Illoku Esther, and Anyipo Evelyn.

These exceptional players exhibited their cricketing prowess in various tournaments, proudly representing esteemed institutions like Olila HS, Olila CC, Light SS, Soroti Challengers CC, and Wanderers CC.

Their journey from the Academy transcends mere local achievements, shining brightly with their exceptional representation on the national stage.

Their commitment and skill not only secured coveted positions across various national teams but also paved the way for triumphs that brought immense pride to the Academy.

The period spanning from 2016 to 2022 heralded an illustrious era for National Teams Representation, witnessing a multitude of exceptionally talented players showcasing their cricketing prowess and dedication.

Names like Jimia Mohammad, Anyait Lorna, Ariokot Marisa, Asumin Akurut, Timong Patricia, Achawo Sandra, Amuge Kevin, Anume Annet, Alako Proscovia, Acan Racheal, Naomi Amongin, Agwang Patricia, Anyigo Mildred, Obukor Gloria, Alungat Eunice, Acawo Sandra, and Awino Kevin were among the standout contributors to various national tournaments.

The success stories on the national stage serve as a source of inspiration. Following their participation in the Waterfalls local tournament and league, several talented girls ventured into the Victoria Series in April 2023 at Kampala Lugogo, leading Uganda to victory.

Notably, outstanding players from the Academy, such as Janet Mbabazi (The vice Captain), Kevin Apio, Alako Proscovia, Kulume Phiona, Anyipo Evelyn, Akiteng Sarah, Alumo Irene, Obukour Gloria, Iloku Esther, and Kevin Awino, played pivotal roles in securing this triumph.

During the Capricon Series in Winhoek, Namibia (April-May 2024), Uganda emerged as champions, triumphing over Namibia in the finals.

Once again, the Academy’s exceptionally talented individuals showcased their skills, contributing significantly to the team’s victory.

Similarly, at the Kwibuka Memorial Tournament in Rwanda, Kigali (June 2023), Uganda’s notable representatives from the Academy demonstrated outstanding performance, reaching the finals and displaying immense talent and dedication.

In 2023’s U19 Boys World Cup Qualifiers in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Ocen Peter, representing Jinja SS on scholarship, showcased remarkable talent on the national platform, displaying skills and dedication.

Additionally, our girls from Soroti contributed significantly to the Victoria Pearls team during the ICC World Cup Qualifiers Africa Division in Entebbe, Uganda, securing the 2nd position and qualifying for the Global World Cup qualifiers in Dubai (February 2024).

Standout Academy players, including Janet Mbabazi, Vice Captain of the Pearls team, Kevin Awino, Alako Proscovia, Illoku Esther, Akiteng Sarah, Anyait Lorna, Malisa Ariokot, Alumo Irene, and Anyipo Evelyn, were instrumental in this achievement.

These representations underscore the excellence within the Academy, showcasing exceptional talent, dedication, and the institution’s commitment to nurturing emerging cricketing stars.

These players epitomize cricketing excellence and serve as inspirations for aspiring cricketers within and beyond the Academy, reflecting the Academy’s ethos of fostering champions and contributing significantly to the nation’s cricketing heritage.
