Two first half goals were the difference as Engonge clan beat Embogo to win the 2023 Bika Football tournament at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday evening.
On a game was graced by the King of Buganda, Kabaka Ronald Mwenda Mutebi II and lots of people came from all over Uganda to show support for their clans.
Into the game, Engonge were playing against a vibrant Embogo who had been impressive in the tournament from the word Go.
But with all the good skills showcased by the Embogo players in particular Jovan Mawejje, Marvin Nyanzi and Nelson Ssenkatuka.
Despite all of this, it was Ronald Ssekiganda who found the net for Engonge, ten (10) minutes with in the game.
Fifteen minutes later, Engonge doubled their lead through Richard Sonko to settle the game into a 2-0 win with no reply from Embogo.
Engonge has good glimpses throughout their game from players like the goal keeper Micheal Lutaaya, Emmanuel Wasswa, Shariph Kimbowa and Deo Ssembatya commonly known as Lola Vado.
On the Netball side, Ngeye Clan lifted their first-ever Bika Netball trophy after they defeated Nyonyi Nyange who wanted to retain the title they lifted last year.
Apart from the Kabaka of Buganda who opened up the game of football and closed it the event had a number guests on it namely NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and acting Netball president Brig. Flavia Byekwaso.
