The Uganda U17 Women’s National Team have been given a bye from a the first round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World cup African Qualifiers but will face rivals, Ethiopia in the second round.

This was confirmed on Monday in a draw ceremony held in Cairo, Egypt.

Uganda was exempted to take part in the first round due to their CAF coefficients as first round consists of lesser ranked Women’s teams in Africa.

The second round qualifiers will be played on home and away basis and the aggregate winner will progress to the third round of the tournament.

If Uganda beat Ethiopia, they will face Nigeria in the final qualification round.

The  U17 Ugandan team were just one round from qualifying for their first ever football world cup last year but due to the COVID-19 pandemic,  the qualifiers and  the subsequent world Cup was cancelled.
