Express secure deal for Uganda Cranes forward

Moments after securing the signature of former defender Joseph Zziwa on a free transfer who terminated his contract with  Dodoma Jijji, Express FC have completed the signing of Uganda Cranes forward Richard Basangwa on a two year deal.

After witnessing different puzzles put together in their 2-1 win over Mbale Heroes in the opening fixture of the season, Basangwa will be of help to the Nakivubo side.

Despite being without a club since January after leaving Egyptian side Wadi Degla, thé forward who was included in the Cranes select side of FUFA Super 8 is said to be in good shape.

Basangwa has previously played for St. Mary’s Kitende at school level, Gomba County in Masaza, Vipers, Gaddafi FC before his move to Egypt in 2022.

He also featured for the Hippos during the AFCON U20 tournament held in Mauritania in 2021 as Uganda won silver.

Express FC have also appointed former KCCA assistant coach Badru Kaddu as new assistant coach and will play their second game of the UPL campaign away from home against Basangwa’s former pay masters Vipers at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Thursday 19th September.
