Express FC secured an important 2-0 victory over Buhimba United Saints FC on Friday afternoon at Royals Park in Butema in a Uganda Premier League Matchday 27 encounter.

The Red Eagles produced a composed second-half performance to claim all three points and strengthen their push for a top-half finish, while the hosts’ relegation troubles deepened following a 15th straight match without victory.

Both teams approached the contest cautiously in the opening stages, with chances limited despite a lively tempo. Buhimba United, fighting to keep their survival hopes alive, remained compact defensively and frustrated the visitors for large spells of the first half.

Express FC controlled possession but struggled to find space in the final third, forcing the game into a goalless stalemate at halftime.

The visitors returned from the break with greater urgency and eventually found the breakthrough on the hour mark. Wambuga Marvin finished off a well-worked move in the 60th minute to hand Express the lead and silence the home supporters.

Express continued to press and doubled their advantage 13 minutes later when Nyanzi Marvin found the back of the net in the 73rd minute, effectively sealing the result for the Red Eagles.

The Kampala side comfortably managed the remainder of the match, while their backline stayed disciplined to preserve a valuable clean sheet away from home.

The victory lifts Express FC to 33 points as they continue their pursuit of a strong finish to the season.

For Buhimba United Saints FC, the defeat leaves them rooted at the bottom of the 16-team table with only three matches remaining, making their survival bid increasingly difficult.

Express FC will now shift focus to their upcoming home fixture against Kitara FC on May 12.

Meanwhile, Buhimba United Saints FC face another daunting test when they travel to Lugogo to take on NEC FC on Wednesday, May 13, in what could prove decisive for their survival hopes.
