Emirates Invitational 7s: Rugby Cranes beaten thrice, to face France in quarters

The Uganda Rugby Cranes were beaten thrice on the matchday one of the Emirates Invitational 7s tournament.

The team were pitted in the Red Pool and lost their games in the group,  losing to Argentina 38-14 in the opener where Phillip Wokorach and Michael Wokorach scored the two tries for the Cranes.

In the second game, Uganda took the lead through Nobert Okeny’s try but Japan made a wonderful recovery to win 40-05.

In the last game against Canada, it was a closely contest game but Uganda still lost 19-21 to Canada despite a spirited performance by the team. Phillip Wokorach and Okeny netted tries while Joseph Aredo made a conversion.

Despite finishing bottom of the Red Pool with three points, Uganda will face France in quarters finals. France finished top of the Blue Pool.

The Emirates Invitational 7s is a two-weeks training camp that includes two competitive tournaments aimed at supporting the 14 invited teams prepare for the Tokyo Olympics.
