For any footballer, winning the Uganda Premier League title is either a pinnacle or a kick-start to their career on the local scene. While some of Uganda’s youngsters have won Uganda football’s most coveted title, it has been a different story for some we consider to have possessed better talent and played in better teams. Some did not have or have not yet had the chance, and may never have that chance, while others have come agonizingly close.

From the unlucky lot were/are those players whose talent is considerably above others on the list of the players who have failed to win the league. This can be considered an injustice to some of Uganda’s finest.

We bring you the super talents to never have won a Uganda Premier League title.

Yasin Mugabi – Red Arrows FC (Zambia)

Yasin Mugabi has previously featured for KCCA FC, The Saints FC, SC Villa, Proline FC, Police FC, and Wakiso Giants FC.

He recently rejoined The Zambian Premier League with Red Arrows FC, having featured earlier for Lusaka Dynamos in 2018.

Godfrey Walusimbi, Fk Vllaznia (Albania)

Godfrey Walusimbi has previously featured for SC Villa and Bunamwaya SC (present-day Vipers SC).

He also joined KPL side Gor Mahia before joining PSL’s Kaizer Chiefs for a period that did not last as expected.

He now plays for Albanian side Fk Vllaznia.

Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Jeddah Club (Saudi Arabia)

Wasswa has previously featured for KCCA FC, SC Villa, and Vipers SC

He is currently playing in the Saudi Arabia top-flight side Jeddah Club but he has had a spell at St. George, FC Capetown, Attay among others

Savio Kabugo, Sebeta Kenema (Ethiopia)

Kabugo has previously played for SC Victoria University, KCCA FC, URA FC, Proline FC, and SC Villa

He is currently plying his trade with Ethiopia’s Sebeta Kenema FC having previously featured for DR Congo’s SC Vita.

Isaac Isinde, TRAU FC (India)

Isinde has previously featured for Iganga Town Council FC, Simba FC, Victors FC, and Kirinya Jinja SS FC

Isinde has recently joined I-League side TRAU FC but he also had spells at St. George and Buildcon

Moses Oloya, Ha Noi FC (Vietnam)

Oloya has previously featured for KCCA FC. He plys his trade with Vietnamese top-flight side Ha Noi FC.

Khalid Aucho, El Makkasa (Egypt)

Aucho has previously played for JMC FC, Simba FC, and Water FC

He is currently playing for the Egyptian top-flight side El Makkasa but he has also and spells at Kenya’s Gor Mahia FC, South Africa’s Baroka before moving to Serbia’s Red Star Belgrade

Augustine Nsumba, Coaching staff (URA FC)

Nsumba has previously played for SC Villa, URA FC, and BUL FC

He retired from playing football and he is currently working with the coaching staff at URA FC

Emmanuel Okwi, Al Ittihad (Egypt)

Okwi has previously featured for Sports Club Villa on two occasions.

He is currently playing his professional football at Egyptian top-flight side Al Ittihad but he has also featured for Simba SC in Tanzania

Okwi also had spells at Etoile Du Sahel, Young Africans, and SønderjyskE

David Obua, Panelist (SuperSport)

Obua has previously featured for Police FC and Express FC

He retired from playing football at the Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian

He also had a short caching stint at Maroons FC where he was serving as the Assistant Head Coach
