CECAFA U23: Uganda finishes 5th after victory over Eritrea

The Uganda U23 men’s football team, Kobs, have finished fifth at the 2021 CECAFA U23 Senior Challenge Championship held in Ethiopia.

The Kobs who managed to win only one game after drawing the first two at the group stages could only settle with a 2-1 win over Eritrea in the classification play-off match for the 5 and 6th position played at the Bahir Dar international Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Najib Yiga and Steven Mukwala were on target for the Kobs while Yonatan Teketse got the consolation for Eritrea.

Yiga struck for Uganda in the 39th minute after being set up by Ivan Bogere while Mukwala doubled the scoreline in the 71st minute.

Teketse pulled a goal back for Eritrea but the Kobs held on for the win.
