While for Congo, this is their maiden appearance in the CECAFA regional tournament after they withdrew from the 2019 tournament in Uganda.

This will be the fourth meeting between any Ugandan national football side and Congo with Uganda holding a slight advantage, winning two of the three.

The last meeting was at the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt where the Uganda Cranes defeated DR Congo 2-0 in a group Agane at the Cairo International Stadium.

Uganda Kobs head coach Morley Byekwaso is expected to name the same starting lineup as  that played in the two practice games in Saudi Arabia.

Uganda is pitted in group A alongside Tanzania and DR Congo.

The best top teams in each of the groups will automatically qualify for the semi finals, while the best runner up from any of the three groups also gets to the last four.
