BUGANDA REGIONAL – Relegation-threatened Standard High School convicts Synergy to first home loss


Standard High School Zzana has condemned Synergy to their first home loss of the season in a 2-1 away win at Masaka Recreation Grounds.

First-half goals from Nyanzi Shafiq 4′ and Kayongo Shaban 38′ were enough to give the schoolboys a maiden away win, Frank Yiga pulled one back for the home from the spot-kick.

STAHIZA came into this game seated at the bottom of the Katonga Group with no point from 13 games while Synergy needed to close the gap on chart leaders Buwambo United.

Shafiq Nyanzi headed in splendidly into the bottom corner in the 4th minute to put the visitors into an early lead before Shaman Kayongo sent in a fire shot past Synergy FC custodian Ronald Kiberu in the 38th minute to stretch the visitors’ lead.

Synergy found the consolation goal through Frank Yuga from the spot-kick after a clumsy challenge committed on Medy Kasozi inside the box by STAHIZA defender in the 79th minute.

This is Synergy’s second loss of the season and first home loss while its STAHIZA’s second win of the season from 14 games.

STAHIZA remains at the bottom with 3-points while Synergy remains 4th with 23-points.

STAHIZA will play Masaka City FC at Lufuka on Sunday 1st March while Synergy will visit Young Simba FC at Bombo Barracks Playground.
