Sheryl Botes: FUFA appoints South African as new Crested Cranes head coach

The Federation of Uganda Football Association appointed Sheryl Botes as new Crested Cranes head coach at the FUFA house  in Mengo on Wednesday morning.

Former Banyana Banyana assistant and head coach of the South African U-20 Women’s National Team (Basetsana) replaces a vacant position that had recently been filled by Charles Ayeikoh on interim basis.

Botes who last had a coaching job in 2020 is an experienced Doctor, Phycologist, Nutritionist, Physiotherapist, Coach and will be looked at to help Uganda thrive at senior level.

For the past two years, Botes has been a CAF Instructor, conducting Coaching Courses in the whole COSAFA Region.

She has come along with three South African professionals in her backroom staff, David Ribeiro (Goalkeeping Coach), Ashley De Beer (Sports Scientist) and Phuphu Mohlaba (Video Analyst).

After enough research, a Technical Team that will have Ugandan officials who will be named at a later stage.

Botes will also monitor the development of the Youth Women National Teams.
