Bombers go back to the ghettos, announce their success

Shortly after visiting their Patron Capt. Mike Mukula, the Uganda National Boxing team, the Bombers, celebrated their 2023 African Boxing Championships with their Ghetto comrades in Kawaala.

A very thoughtful move by the Uganda Boxing Federation to enjoy the victory in the same place where the team was flagged off to the tournament.

With a group of Band members and 17 Bombers including the medalists who received the seven medals at the Championship in Yaoundé, Cameroon the community were happy and all couldn’t hide the excitement.

Uganda’s seven medalists included two silvers winners in Erina Namutebi and Wasswa Ssali plus Five who collected Bronze in Ronald Okello, Matovu Ukasha, Solomon Geko Kozaala, Grace Nankinga and Emily Nakalema.

At Arrival some of the players reached Kyamys with their fans and parents the same gesture that was portrayed during the flag-off in the same place.

With lots big smiles enticed by the Master of Ceremony of the day, MunaKyaggwe Moses Kaddu of NBS Sport introducing the different boxer’s, the revealers who were more interested in their home boys as they continued to call out “Matovu Ukasha, Muzamir and Wasswa Ssali”

After they all got to the stage, a voice from all of them was let out to remind the public of their names and tell them about theit experience.

Among all the Bombers, the community’s favorite Matovu Ukasha was the long awaited voice the home crowd wanted to hear as increased their volume as he held the microphone;

“Team Bombers Gubaale!( the team slogan ) he started

“I want to start by thanking you for praying for us, we didn’t ashame you and delivered like we promised.”

“Allow me to also thank our Federation and coaches who organised us to compete at top level”

“It was a real battle against fighters who were better than us, but we were determined and these medals are a response.”

With lots of people who had flogged the place a speech from both the UBF President, Moses Muhangi and the area’s RCC Iddi Rashid highlighted that was need inorder mentally help the boxers in a realistic way.

After all was said the RCC gave the boys a token of appreciation of their works just like Muscian China Pro who promised to award the the winner of the first fight(Wasswa Ssali) with a token of shs. 200,000.

He didn’t stop there as he also awarded two of the team coaches with a wholesome shs.200,000 for the to share.

After a good gesture, by the individual UBF President Moses Muhangi came also and complimented the gesture saying;

“Just like China Pro, it is important for us as the Federation to give back to the Community where we get our Boxers and there was no better way to celebrate this with our Ghetto people who give us the mandate, the people we live with, such a success.”

“It doesn’t make sense for you to live in a community then once you succeed you go and celebrate with other people. “

He concluded by giving the people hope;

“We always wanted to come back and celebrate with our people, stay connected with them, give them encouragement and can feel motivated. If Ukasha can do it, if Muhangi can do it, you can also do it.” he said

There after, the Party was set ablaze with a berbaceau accompanied by Sting Energy Drink, a Boxing Champions League sponsor and Pepsi Product.
