The Baby Cricket Cranes have been flagged off for the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in Dar El Salam Tanzania
The tournament will run from July 21st until 31st at two venues the University of Dar El Salam and Dar Gymkhana.
Uganda will be making a consecutive World Cup appearance after making its third U-19 World Cup appearance in the West Indies a year ago.
Uganda has been to the World Cup in 2004, 2006, and 2022 and success in Tanzania will be their fourth appearance at the 2024 U-19 World Cup that will be held in Sri Lanka.
After the flag-off had a chat with team’s captain Fahad Mutagana who was among the previous edition’s team and confirmed how ready his side was;
“All the teams are strong but we are going to play our best for that one slot in that tournament in Tanzania”
“As we play them we are going to be using the same skills we had in the camp in India and we shall conquer all of them.”
The traveling squad has six players who were part of the U-19 World Cup in the West Indies, Captain Fahad Mutagana, Pius Oloka, Joseph Baguma, Brian Asaba, Ronald Omara, and Yunus Sowobi.
The six teams at the qualifier tournament include the hosts Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Namibia, Sierra Leone, and Kenya and will all be battling for one slot in the World Cup.
