The Masaza Cup tournament is an annual football competition in Uganda that holds significant cultural and historical importance and only features teams representing the traditional 18 counties or “Masaza” of the Buganda Kingdom.

It’s a tournament that seeks to celebrate Buganda’s rich cultural heritage and fosters community unity through sports.

The competition has participating county’s teams named after their respective “Masaza.” The tournament’s format includes a series of knockout rounds, leading to semi-finals and a final match to determine the champion.

While the tournament is primarily a football competition, it serves broader cultural and community purposes, including promoting sports talent, instilling values like teamwork and discipline, and strengthening ties within the Buganda Kingdom.
