Wakiso Giants head coach Alex Gitta has said he wants his side to go as far as possible in this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Gitta made these remarks during the press conference made ahead of the Round of 64 tie with Buganda Regional side Kiyinda Boys at the Ssaza Ground, Mityana.

“We want to go as far as possible in the competition and we shall take the game against Kiyinda Boys very serious well aware that it’s a knock out competition,” said Gitta.

Gitta is also aware of the threat posed by the Regional side, but knows how he will approach the game to get the deserved result.

“They are doing well in their league and though there is not much we know about them, I watched them play in Masaka on Sunday and know what threat they pose.” He said before adding.

“Good enough, we have had friendlies with regional sides and also played one in Mityana and so we know how to approach the game.”

For the past three seasons, the purple sharks have reached atleast the round of 16 and last season, they made it to the quarterfinals where they were eliminated by Police FC on away goals rule so they will seek to maintain the same feat also this year.

Sam Ssenyonjo, signed from KCCA on loan in this ongoing window is expected to make his debut.

Vipers SC are the defending champions of the Uganda Cup after they defeated BUL 8-1 in last season’s final.
