AFCON U20: Uganda pitted with neighbors South Sudan and Congo in Group B


Uganda U-20 National Team, the Hippos has learnt their opponents at the Forthcoming Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Egypt.This follows the draw that was held on Friday evening in Cairo .

The Hippos have been pitted against neighbors South Sudan and Congo in group B. The other team in the group is Central Africa Republic.

This is the second time that Uganda will feature at this tournament having finished second in the last edition held in Mauritania in 2021.

The Hippos secured their slot at next year’s finals after having emerged winners of the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers in Sudan this year.

Group A has the hosts, Egypt, record champions Nigeria, Mozambique and Senegal.

While group C has Gambia, Tunisia, Benin and Zambia.

The top two teams of each group advance to the quarter finals along with the two best 3rd placed teams.

The 2023 AFCON U20 tournament will take place in Egypt between 18th February and March 12.

The four semi-finalists from this tournament will qualify to the FIFA U-20 World Cup held in Indonesia.
