ACA Africa T20 Cup: Cricket Cranes Temporarily Lead Group A

Uganda’s Cricket Cranes surge to the top of Group A after a resounding 51-run victory against Mozambique and this has set the stage for a compelling finish.

However, Rwanda’s potential win in their remaining two matches might propel them to the top spot with six points, reshaping the table. Meanwhile, Malawi’s victory in their final game could elevate them to four points, potentially challenging Uganda’s position and matters be decided based on net run rate.

With 4 points from three games and an impressive net run rate of 1.676, Uganda’s journey in the group stage included two victories and a lone defeat against Rwanda in the tournament opener. Mozambique, yet to secure a win, remains at the bottom of Group A, awaiting their game against Rwanda.

In Uganda’s recent group stage match against Mozambique, Kenneth Waiswa assumed captaincy, guiding the team to a commanding 149/8 in 20 overs. Roger Mukasa’s 45 off 36 and Alpesh Ramjani’s 32 off 18 bolstered the total.

Mozambique struggled at 98/10 in response, Frank Nsubuga (3/20) and Henry Senyondo (4/20) led Uganda’s bowling attack, securing a 51-run victory and Senyondo earned the Player of the Match award.

In Group B, Kenya currently leads with 4 points from two games, followed closely by Botswana tied at two points with Sierra Leone. Ghana, after two matches, sits at the group’s bottom without a point.

Kenya’s outstanding net run rate of 4.637 positions them as a formidable force, potentially securing their top spot with a win in their final game
