Absa Bank Uganda has confirmed the organizations and institutions that will benefit from the UGX 300 million collected from the 2024 Absa KH3 7 Hills Run.
The run, organized on March 17, 2024, in partnership with the Kampala Hash House Harriers, spanned the seven iconic hills in Kampala. It aimed to support keeping the girl-child in school. Over UGX 300 million was collected, and Absa Bank has announced the allocation of these funds.
“We believe education is a right every child should have access to, regardless of gender. The Absa KH3-7 Hills Run supports the girl-child because their story matters. We’ve divided these funds among reputable social enterprises to contribute to tackling societal challenges, supporting girls’ education, skills training, and menstrual hygiene management,” said Mumba Kalifungwa, Managing Director of Absa Bank Uganda.
“It was humbling to see the overwhelming positive response from the public. We registered 5,000 runners from individual and corporate categories.”
The beneficiaries include:
- World Vision Uganda (UGX 90 million): Strengthening menstrual hygiene management in Karamoja, benefiting over 5,000 girls.
- Joshua Cheptegei Foundation (UGX 50 million): School fees bursaries for 22 girls at the Joshua Cheptegei Junior School.
- Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project (UGX 20 million): School fees support for vulnerable children in Rukungiri and Kanungu.
