CAFCL: Yunus Sentamu, Paul Mucureezi not in Vipers travelling squad

Vipers Sports club who flew out of the country on Thursday morning looking set to battle it out in their CAF Champions League preliminary match against Real de Bangui of Central African Republic of Congo.

The match will be played this Saturday 10th September 2022 at the Stade Alphonse Massamba Debat, Congo Brazzaville and the return leg will be played seven days later on 17th September, 2022 at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende.

The team has been in camp for a long period of time and held a couple of sessions at Kitende, the last one being that of Wednesday before the team left for Congo Brazzaville. This is the fifth time the team is at this stage

The Venoms have made nine signings including Nigerian forward Abubakar Lawal, Congolese duo Alfred Macumu Mudekereza, Olivier Osomba, Isa Mubiru, Ashraf Mandela, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Murushid Juuko, Abdu Lumala and Cromwell Rwothomio.

Vipers nineteen(19)-man travelling squad on Thursday morning was without Yunus Sentamu who hasn’t been training for a week with Malaria and Paul Mucureezi who got a foot fracture in training.

Midfielders: Abdu Lumala, Bright Anukani, Marvin Joseph Youngman, Siraje Sentamu, Olivier Osomba, Ibrahim Orit, Abdu Karim Watambala.

Forwards: Cromwel Rwothomio, Milton Karisa, Najib Yiga, Abubakar Lawal.

We had really good preparation ever since we started our pre season and we have been following our coach’s instructions and I think am in the right path, he said

We have much to do for these remaining two days, the coach is still giving us more tips on how we are going to play, me myself I hadn’t heard of that team before, so we have to be aware that we are facing a strong team, we can’t under estimate them, he added

The match officials for the game as declared by Confederation of African Football will be; center referee, Jean Pierre Tshiamala Kabangu coming from Democratic Republic of Congo

Fellow countrymen, Nabina Blaise Sebutu and Babaka Mampasi will be the first and second assistants and fourth official, Tanguy Lopembe Tangi, is also a born of DRC.

The match commissioner will be Jean Claude Niyongabo from Burundi and Covid-19 Officer, Jean Pierre Elenga Okandze.
