Ugandan Athlete Joshua Cheptegei wins third successive 10000m gold at the 19th World Athletics Championships on Sunday evening in Budapest.
Cheptegei beat his opponents with a time of 27:51.42 in front of Kenya’s Daniel Simiu Ebenyo and Olympic Champion at the distance Selemon Barega (Ethiopia).
He is the first Ugandan to win a medal at the ongoing 19th World Athletics Championship in Hungary.
The long-distance star became the fourth man in history to do three straight 25-lap World titles. This comes after the 26 year old hinted on retiring from the track to join the marathon.
Therefore Cheptegei became the fourth man in history to win three consecutive World races alongside Great Britain’s Mo Farah, Ethiopian legendary duo of Haile Gebrselassie and Kenesia Bekele.
