FUFA Super 8: Game between KCCA and URA is postponed

Thé FUFA Super 8 Semi -final game between Kampala City Council Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) and Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) has been called off as communicated by KCCA FC.

The game had been scheduled to take place on Sunday 20th August 2023 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

It has been called off following the passing of the URA FC Head Coach Sam Timbe.

Thé late Sam Timbe was declared dead on Saturday afternoon at St. Catherine Hospital along Lumumba Avenue, Kampala.

It is said that Timbe wasn’t feeling well since the previous day (Friday) and seemed to worsen as time went on.

Initially, he was admitted to St. Catherine Hospital, his health continued to deteriorate, prompting the medical staff to refer him to Nakasero Hospital as Pulse sports first reported

But was pronounced dead upon arrival

Sam Timbe who was a one man club played for only one club – Coffee FC and part of the national team from 1978-1983.

Timbe won three league titles with SC Villa (2004), Atraco FC (2008) and Young Africans (2010/2011).

He’s also the only coach to win four Cecafa Cup titles with four different sides; SC Villa (2005), Police(2006), Atraco FC I (2009) and Young Africans (2011). 

Excluding URA FC Timbe has coached twelve sides (12) in his career.

 Coffee FC, Police FC, Lyantonde FC, UPDF, Mbale Heroes, She Kobs, Uganda Youth team (U-19), Simba FCSC Villa, Uganda Cranes assist coach, Atraco FC(Rwanda) and Yanga Africans (Tanzania).

The new date for the game will be announced by the Federation of Uganda Football Association.
