Kampala International Future Series climaxed at the Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Uganda maintained second position in the medal bracket with eight (8), Five (5) behind top side India like it was last year (2023) at the same tournament.

Into the court, Uganda’s Fadillah Shamika and Tracy Naluwooza who were the stars many were putting their eyes on.

However both were stopped at the quarter-final level in the singles category, Fadillah suffering a 3-1 sets loss against UAE’s Sreejith Parol before Naluwooza lost to Sophia Noble of Ireland.

Therefore Uganda’s only medal hopes remained in the doubles and mixed doubles events, going on to fail in the mixed doubles, Naluwooza who patnered with Kenneth Mwambu stopping at the Quaterfinal too.

But the lack managed to lay in the Women doubles where Tracy Naluwooza and Fadilah Shamika partnered and managed to clinch silver.

Fadilah Shamika.

Talking to Naluwooza, a student at Mbogo High School and Uganda National Badminton team regular; She came out to acknowledge how hard it was this time round;

“Today we have managed to clinch silver in the Women doubles with my patner Fadila Shamika however I would like to say It hasn’t been easy” she said

“We are currently both candidates so we have not had enough time to train but we have maintained second place from the previous Kampala International Future series” Naluwooza added

“Despite the loss, am happy the available solution for betterment at this point of time would be training hard but the fact that we got to balance everything and scale will lay on books”

“Next week we have Uganda International it starts on Thursday and I am going to be available” she concluded

Uganda International series will shuttle off Thursday 3rd October 2024 and climax on Sunday 6th of the same month.

Both tournaments are on international level and stages where different Badminton shuttlers can collect points ahead of the upcoming 2028 Olympics in Log Angeles.
