The U20 Girls team of 16 players entered the camp in Isingiro at Boni Consili Girls vocational SS at the start of this week in preparation for the upcoming CAVB U20 women tournament which will be held at the MTN Arena Lugogo in Kampala from 4th – 13th December.

The CAVB U20 women tournament is a qualifier to the FIVB women volleyball championship 2021 to be held in Netherlands and Belgium.

Tonny Lakony the head coach of the senior team the Lady Volleyball cranes has termed the camp in Isingiro organized by the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) as a mess and ridiculous for a tournament that is to take place in Kampala.

“The U-20 Girls preparations for the December qualifiers started on a very wrong note, the camp is in Isingiro while the competitions will be in Lugogo,” he said.

He insists that there will not be much help from the coaches because of the distance.

“It will be extremely hard for Coaches to go that far in Isingiro to help out. Having only 10-days in Kampala for the competition is not good at all,” added the UVF Technical director.

The team will have a two weeks stay in Isingiro before returning to Kampala for a one-week training at the Lugogo indoor stadium before the start of the tournament. Uganda finished 9th in last year’s tournament which was held in Nairobi, Kenya.

The U20 Girls volleyball team in Isingiro is under four coaches headed by Alex Mbaine for a double training session.
