Vipers Sports Club have unveiled Brazilian Roberto “Beto” Luiz Bianchi Pelliser and Roberto Martinez as the new head coach and assistant respectively at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday .
Beto who has replaced Roberto Oliveira joins the Kitende side on a two-year employment contract.
His biggest test will be helping the Venoms go past the CAF Champions League group stages that are starting next month.
After the unveiling, Dr Lawrence Mulindwa said that It took him three weeks to look for Brazilian coach Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pelliser;
“We looked for a coach with vast experience, with good style, and one that can give us good football.” Dr Lawrence Mulindwa said.
“It took us 3 weeks to look for Brazilian coach Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pelliser.” he added
“We received a lot of applications from within and outside Uganda, and we had to screen them thoroughly before settling for Beto,” he concluded
The former Angola national team headcoach has coached a number of Clubs Outside Africa than inside.
Beto managed Spanish club teams Ciudad de Murcia, Atlético Ciudad, Zamora and Lorca Deportiva. He also coached in Indonesia and Jordan.
In 2020 he also managed Kuwaiti club Kazma. Before that he was once a gaffer of Angolan club side Petro de Luanda in 2019 where he was replaced by Srđan Vasiljević in December 2019.
