Uganda 112/4 in 18.5 overs beat Hong Kong, China 108/4 in 20 overs by six wickets
Uganda’s Victoria Pearls made the perfect start to their 2026 Capricorn Women’s T20I Quadrangular Series campaign with a composed six-wicket victory over Hong Kong, China at the High-Performance Oval in Windhoek.
Having won the toss and elected to field, Uganda delivered a disciplined bowling performance that kept Hong Kong’s batters in check before calmly chasing down the 109-run target with seven balls to spare.
Hong Kong’s innings revolved around captain Natasha Miles, who struck a well-crafted 45 off 43 deliveries, while Yasmin Daswani added 39 from 42 balls as the pair laid a solid foundation after the early exchanges.
Despite the partnership, Uganda’s bowlers maintained excellent control throughout the innings, denying boundaries and forcing the batters to work hard for every run.
Sarah Walaza led the attack with an outstanding spell, conceding just 15 runs in her four overs while claiming one wicket, including a maiden over that applied early pressure.
Consylate Aweko provided the breakthrough Uganda needed by dismissing Miles, who was smartly stumped by Esther Iloku, before Immaculate Nakisuuyi added another wicket to finish with figures of 1/27.
The pressure never eased as Sarah Akiteng returned economical figures of 0/18 from her four overs, while Phiona Egaru Kulume chipped in with 0/10 in two overs to help restrict Hong Kong, China to 108/4 from their allotted 20 overs.
Uganda’s chase began positively through captain Janet Mbabazi, whose brisk 24 off 24 balls, featuring four boundaries, gave the Victoria Pearls early momentum before she was dismissed by Marina Lamplough.
The innings was then anchored by Proscovia Alako, who produced a patient yet assured knock of 38 from 43 deliveries, striking six boundaries to keep Uganda comfortably on course throughout the chase.
Stephanie Nampiina added 11, while Ritah Musamali contributed a useful 15 as the required rate remained firmly under control.
With victory in sight, Immaculate Nakisuuyi provided the finishing flourish, smashing an unbeaten 11 from just six balls, including two boundaries, to seal the win alongside Esther Iloku, who remained unbeaten on seven.
The comprehensive victory gives the Victoria Pearls a confident start to the tournament and valuable momentum ahead of their remaining fixtures as they continue their quest for the Capricorn Series title.
In the other Match of the day, the hosts Namibia defeated Tanzania by 9 wickets courtesy of a well-crafted half century knock from their captain Sune Wittmann (53 off 44)
