The Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) is set to climax its 2023 Annual road safety campaign on Saturday 5th August in Lugazi .
The Association which has partnered with a couple of companies like paints manufacturers Kansai Plascon and City Oil.
Daniel Kayongo, Plascon’s marketing manager confirmed that they have injected in Uganda shs 30,000,000 for the USPA road safety campaign with promise of painting the zebra crossings in Lugazi while City Oil offered Ug shs. 5,000,000 to the Campaign.
USPA has also managed to lure two Government ministries in this year’s government who the Ministry of Health which was represented by Emmanuel Ayinebyoona and the Ministry of Works and Transport by General Katumba Wamala.
The Annual Road Safety campaign started in 2004 and it shows the greater impact of a noble cause.
This Campaign is set to honour fallen journalists like Leo Kabunga, Kenneth Matovu, Simon Peter Ekaliot and Francis Batte Jr who were all part of USPA.
All the Sports journalists perished in an accident around Lugazi as they returned from negotiating a deal with sponsors Nile Breweries on 21st August 2001.
With a Campaign that started in July, a number of activities have taken place since then, headlined by a church service in remembrance of our media colleagues who passed away in road accidents.
