The Uganda Premier League Secretariat has officially announced the postponement of the highly anticipated fixture between SC Villa and Maroons FC.
Initially scheduled for Saturday, 8th March 2025, the match will now take place on Sunday, 9th March 2025.
The rescheduling comes as a result of a crucial FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Qualifier match between the Uganda U17 Women’s National Team and their Kenyan counterparts.
The match is set to be played on the same day at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
To avoid a scheduling conflict and allow fans to support the national team, the league organizers, in consultation with both clubs, decided to shift the SC Villa vs. Maroons FC match by a day.
The Uganda Premier League recognizes the importance of national team support and, therefore, adjusted the club fixture to enable fans to rally behind the Uganda U17 Women’s National Team on Saturday before attending the SC Villa-Maroons match the following day.
In their last meeting, SC Villa and Maroons FC played to a 1-1 draw, with Jackson Nunda equalizing after David Owori’s first-half goal.
The two teams are currently neck-and-neck in the league standings, with SC Villa in 8th place on 24 points, just ahead of 9th-placed Maroons FC, who also have 24 points.
As SC Villa prepares for the rescheduled fixture, the club has yet to confirm the venue.
The team is considering either hosting the game at Luzira, which is also Maroons FC’s home ground, or finalizing preparations to use Wankulukuku Stadium.
An official announcement regarding the venue is expected in the coming days.
