UPL: Nunda header earns Maroons crucial point against SC Villa

Midfielder Jackson Nunda scored his first goal of the campaign to earn Maroons a point against SC Villa at the Luzira Prison grounds on Thursday evening.

David Owori scored early on with just seven (7)  minutes into the game after a beautifully curled free kick beyond Simon Tamale’s reach in the top right corner of the goal.

With Villa holding onto a dominant spell Patrick Jonah Kakande dribbled from the left past one and two to shot to goal outside the box 7 minutes later for Tamale to handle it easily.

However Maroons on the other-side too managed two shots through Abel Eturude and Brian Owamirambe in a space of ten minutes, all safely into Norman Angufindru’s hands.

In the second half, Maroons who had good control of the game managed to level matters 14 minutes to full time through substitute Nunda’s header after a great cross from Fredrick Kigozi on the left to help Ssefuma’s charges attian a point.

The result meant that the defending champions SC Villa have now lost points from a leading position for the third consecutive match this season.

Previously they threw away a 2-0 lead at home to Bright Stars who picked a point from after it ended 2-2 at full time before that, Villa led Vipers SC in Kitende and went on to lose 2-1.

Morley Byekwaso’s men currently lay in 7th on the League table with 8 points while Maroons are 11th with 6, three off the bottom side Bright Stars.

Villa will host UPDF FC on Friday, 1st November for their next game as Maroons pay courtsey visit to KCCA a day after.

In the other Friday-Match Day six fixture, URA FC played out a goalless stalement away to UPDF in Bombo.
