UPL: First half goals decide UPDF fate against Express

On the wet Muteesa 2 stadium ground in Wankulukuku, hosts Express FC returned to winning ways defeating army side, UPDF thanks to three first half goals.

Hosts, Express took the lead through Joshua Musoke in the eighth minute utilizing Isaac Wagoina’s assist.

Twenty minutes off the game, Kevin Ssekibegga doubled Express’ lead before Isaac Wagoina scored the third with a minute left on the opening half.

After dominant performance of the visitors in the second half, substitute Abas Luutu secured a consolation goal for his side a minute into added time.

Isaac Wagoina takes his goal tally to 10 goals, one (1) behind Nelson Ssenkatuka, Denis Omedi who netted back to back goals in his last two games against KCCA and Wakiso Giants.

Into the game, UPDF looked so dominant through out the game through Rashid Faridi, Badru Gibril Nsimbe missing out several chances.

Express had a direct approach through Isaac Wagoina in the center forward and Isma Kawawulo who supplied several crosses.

This victory took the Red Eagles to the seventh position with 29 points out of 19 matches while UPDF retain their relegation spot with 10 pionts out of 19 matches.

In the next fixtures, Express will play SC Villa in the Wankulukuku derby on 9th March while UPDF host Busoga United at Bombo military barracks.
