When newly promoted Lugazi FC faceoff against Express FC on Tuesday 22nd October 2024 at the Hamz stadium.

There will be one more note added to the top flight’s record books. For the very first time, a Uganda premier league club will be coached by a lady.

Former Uganda women’s national team player Oliver Mbekeka will be in charge of Lugazi, she was handed the reins following the departure of Sadiq Ssempigi who has seen the club through their first 5 games in their debut top flight season.

He has however not had results going his way, a highlight draw against SC Vipers and another against Mbale heroes which both came at home are the only points he collected, leaving the club at the bottom of the table.

Lugazi has today announced Mbekeka as an interim coach, the 45 year old joined the club in July as an assistant to Ssempigi, she has previously coached Lady doves and the U20 women’s national team (Queen Cranes).
