After the 2019 final they lost to UCU at Lugogo, this is the second consecutive time St Lawrence University have advanced to the final of the Pepsi University Football League.
St. Lawrence won the tie with a comfortable 5-1 aggregate 2-1 in the first leg and later on a 3-0 victory in the 2nd on Tuesday at the MUBS Arena. The David Nnono coached side’s goals came in from Michael Kayongo, Bruno Bunyaga, and Herbert Abima.
In the midst of the game, Police ran battles with MUBS supporters who stormed the picth after St Lawrence took the lead.
Bruno Bunyaga and Micheal Kayongo have been the star-men in the Lubaga side based University team scoring in both semi-final legs and will be two to look at in the final.
Unlike in 2019, this time round St Lawrence will face Uganda Martyrs University who shot-out Uganda Christian University 5-4 in penalties after a one-all draw.
This will be the second time Uganda Martyrs Nkozi will be playing at the final having won the last one in 2017 when they beat MUBS 2-0 to lift the trophy.
The final will be played at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on November 12th 2022.
