University Football League final shifted, set for 10th November


The University Football League final that was postponed after suspension of activities at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium Management has been rescheduled.

The final and the third place playoff that had been scheduled to take place on the 3rd of November, at Namboole has been rescheduled to the 10th November, 2019 at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

In the final, St Lawerence University will take on Uganda Christian University while the third place playoff will be contested by Uganda Martyrs University and Bugema University.

St. Lawerence University knocked out Uganda Martyrs Univeraity via penalty shootouts after squaring it in both legs. 2-3 it ended in favour on St. Lawrence University.

Uganda Christian University also knocked-out Bugema University on penalty shootouts after drawing on aggregate 3-3. UCU won in penalties 4-2.

The organisers of the the University Football League were forced to look somewhere else for an alternative when the management of the Mandela National Stadium announced that the Facility would be suspending activities for a period of two weeks to allow for refurbishment of the playing surface that had sufferd massive damage due to the torrential rains.
