There were ugly scenes at Mutesa II Stadium, shortly after a Uganda Cup football match in which Kajjansi United ejected Vipers Sports Club from the Uganda Cup as security was trying to stop Vipers fans from attacking their coach, Edward Golola, faulting him for the poor display.

Vipers SC shamefully exited the Stanbic Uganda Cup after penalties following a 1-all draw with Kajjansi United FC during normal time.

Just a few moments after the game an angry mob identified with Vipers SC fans jerseys attacked the head coach of the club, Edward Golola blaming him for the bad ‘result and the poor football’ displayed by their team.

However, the stewards at the stadium immediately interceded and they were forced to use some reasonable force to bring the angry mob to order. It was during this moment that a media personnel attached to CBS FM, Mrs. Bagala Peace Diane was hit with several violently beaten the security team, leaving her badly injured and in critical condition.

The incident also had Vipers’ Media Officer, Kenneth Kelvin Muwanga badly beaten by the security team.

In the end, the security team was able to save the situation.

This is the second time this season that a club head coach is being attacked by fans as a result of their team’s poor performance. During matchday 17 at the Kavumba Recreation grounds, a group angry KCCA FC fans attacked Mike Mutebi after his team lost 2-1 to Bright Stars.
