The University Football League with their goal of maintaining their league that started in 2012 have suspended Kyambogo University over hooliganism.
Kyambogo University fans on two occasions this season have shown unsporting behavior in their games against Muni and Ndejje University.
In the game at home against Muni University on Thursday 5th October 2023 Kyambogo University fans scored a second half goal through Hudson Mbalire which it was hugely contested by Muni University players since the fans inside the field of play.
In the second attempt, the same fans in a home game that ended One – all against Ndejje University played on Saturday 14th October 2023, Kyambogo University fans were seen attacking Ndejje University players and technical bench members, chasing them off the seats.
Therefore, with an aim of promoting University football and marketing the institutions through sports the 2018 Champions, Kyambogo University were suspended for two seasons.
“The University Football League Disciplinary Committee has suspended Kyambogo University over hooliganism.” Statement reads in part.
“The DC found Kyambogo University guilty of hooliganism during the Kyambogo University vs Ndejje University game of 14th October 2023 and during the Kyambogo University vs Muni University game of 5th October 2023.”
“Kyambogo University has been suspended for two seasons – this 2023-24 season and the next.
However Kyambogo has appealed the decision of the Disciplinary Committee.”
