UHA: Association embarks on Development of a National Sports Structures and Systems project


The Uganda Hockey Association ( UHA) in guidance of the International Olympics Committee (IOC) through the Uganda Olympics Committee have rolled out plans for the Development of the National Sports Structures and Systems.

The project worth USD 30,000 will be funded by the IOC and shall be implemented by Parkistani’s Waqas Kiawah Butt.

The Core objectives for the development include spreading the game across the country so as to create a pathway for the development of all stakeholders in the sport ie the umpires, coaches, players and the Administration.

Although the first phase which included online trainings started in March 2020, it was officially opened on Monday 13th July 2020 by William Blick (UOC President and IOC Member). Dr. Donald Rukare (NCS Chairman and UOC Secretary General ) and Tayyab Ikram from the International Hockey Federation.

The trainings courses are facilitated by the FIH Certified educators and Coach Vicent Kasasa who is a local coordinator and are aimed at the betterment of the game and production of Optimal results that will lead into a competitive achievement in the region.

Participants enrolled are from schools such as Kyambogo College in the Central Region, Ombaci in the North, Ntale School in the West, Seeta High in the East and beyond.
