Uganda’s Belinda Chemutai makes the podium for Beatrice Chebet’s 5k record breaking race

Twenty Four year old Ugandan middle distance runner Belinda Chemutai finished 3rd behind Olympic 5000m and 10,000m champion Beatrice Chebet and another Kenyan Medina Eisa at the Cursa dels Nassos in Barcelona, Spain on New Year’s eve.

This 5000m distance is a World Athletics Label road race and had new history written when Chebet smashed the world 5k record.

The previous women’s world 5km record for a mixed race was Agnes Jebet’s 14:13.
