KCCA FC Vs Wakiso Giants – Lugogo

KCCA FC returns to action at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on the penultimate home matchday of the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season as they host relegation-threatened Wakiso Giants FC. With both sides out of the title race, this fixture carries contrasting motivations—KCCA seeking a strong finish and momentum, while Wakiso Giants fight to avoid the drop to the FUFA Big League.

The Cityzens come into the game on the back of a hard-fought 2-2 draw against arch-rivals SC Villa in midweek. Despite missing out on all three points, head coach Jackson Magera Kaddu believes the team is managing a busy fixture schedule well and is prepared for the upcoming challenge.

“We face a side trying to fight relegation, so they will come here and try to play for their lives, but we are ready for the encounter,” said Magera. “The games are coming in thick and fast, but we are handling that quite well. We will not have Nsibambi, Muhamud, and Katenga, but the rest of the squad is available for selection.”

On the other hand, Wakiso Giants arrive under pressure after a disappointing 1-0 home loss to Mbarara City FC. Currently entangled in the relegation scrap, they will be desperate to pick up any points that can aid their survival bid.

The recent head-to-head record favors KCCA FC. In the last nine league encounters between the two sides, KCCA has secured six wins, while Wakiso Giants have managed just two victories. Only one match ended in a draw. Notably, KCCA FC emerged 2-1 winners in the reverse fixture played in December 2024.

While the league title is beyond reach, KCCA FC is determined to finish the season on a high note. A win on Saturday would not only boost their league position but also set the tone ahead of their crucial Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal return leg in Mbale on Sunday, 18th May.

With survival on the line for Wakiso Giants and momentum at stake for KCCA FC, fans can expect a fiercely contested fixture at Lugogo
